Our Charitable Mission is School Gardens
Sign up to GatherGreen and We Will Donate $1 to a School Garden
Giving the next-generation the freedom to grow their own food
We have thought long and hard about what our charitable mission should be. There are many important causes and urgent issues that need to be addressed. At the same time we can't forget what's fundamental to our nature; It is to nurture both the land and each other. When all is said and done what are the things we enjoy most in life? A great and healthy meal with friends and family is essential to our well-being. We believe that one of the most radical things we can do today is take back our food and our health. Teaching children how to sustainably harness the bountiful fruits of the earth for their well-being and their communities is our charitable mission.
For each person who signs up for GatherGreen, we'll donate $1 to a local school garden. Environmentalists, at heart, are bon vivants -- who like to luxuriate in the best of nature's bounty. GatherGreeners are bon vivants with an eye for a good deal -- who get the best sustainable delights at the best prices. So here's a delicious deal no GatherGreener will want to pass up. Simply sign up or refer a friend to GatherGreen, and we'll donate $1 to grow a Los Angeles school garden -- that will provide affordable, healthy, local and organic meals for years to come while setting up young Angelenos for a lifetime of healthy nutrition and sustainable education.

Our First School Garden project: Roosevelt's Academy of Environmental & Social Policy - Partners: Partnership for Los Angeles Schools & EnrichLA

At the corner of Lincoln Park in East Los Angeles you'll find Roosevelt's Academy of Enviromental & Social Policy (ESP). The prinicipal, Bruce Bivins, had been trying to build a school garden for several years now but had not had the resources to do so. The high school's mission is to educate active students for a just and enviromentally sustainable future. We worked with the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools and EnrichLA to make ESP our first school garden project. The garden has been built - with your support we donated $250 - you can read more about Bruce Bivins and the garden on our blog here, and you can read more about EnrichLA founder Tomas O'Grady here.
